Hello and welcome to 2019… I hope that you’ve all had a decent break and had a chance to look after yourselves?


31 days of kindness

If you’re looking for a nice challenge for yourself, your colleagues or your class, you might be interested in “31 days of kindness”which my daughters Lyra, Ellie and I have put together.  Each morning at 7am a new video goes live with a kindness prompt.  These are little things that anyone can try.  Please consider joining in – and if you do so, please leave a like or a comment for my daughters; they worked incredibly hard putting these ideas and videos together and are delighted when they get positive feedback. As well as on my YouTube channel, I’m sharing the videos via Instagramand Twitter.

New Videos:

Promoting wellbeing in the workplace – I share a range of practical strategies for senior and middle leaders.  Especially helpful for mental health leads


How and Why to Care Out Loud– a simple strategy that can be easily tried by teachers and parents supporting children with low self-esteem


Supporting the Siblings of a Young Person with a Mental Health Issue– clear guidance on steps you can take to support siblings. These ideas could also be adapted for siblings or children of someone with a physical illness.


How to make slime with just 3 ingredients– In this video, my 9-year-old daughter Lyra shares the secret to making perfect slime.  This might be a fun activity to do with a young person in your care, or a good addition to a sensory room / box.


Children's experiences of talking about their mental health–  I share survey results and walk through the 'Lingo' resource developed by the Anna Freud Centre which gives clear pointers on how we can improve our communications with young people when discussing mental health.

New year, new job?

The Centre for Mental health are looking for a new head of children and young people’s mental health. They are a wonderful charity doing amazing things (and are also the hosts of the children and young people’s coalition – so if you get the job, you get to work with me..) Applications close on Sunday so please consider applying or sharing ASAP.
