This timely campaign will offer practical advice and emotional support to help take the stress out of the move to secondary school, and shine a light on the positive aspects of starting afresh somewhere new. Using the highly successful format of peer to peer advice, Starting Secondary School has partnered with CBBC documentary series Our School to get first-hand experience from children who have made the move and not only survived, but thrived. There are also tips for parents on how to best support their children emotionally and practically, as well as expert advice on topics such as bullying and online safety.
On BBC Teach there are bespoke classroom clips and resources, in partnership with YoungMinds, that can be used to start discussions around transition, and case studies of schools from across the UK that run successful year round transition projects.
You can visit the site at: bbc.com/startingsecondaryschool where you'll find films, articles and quizzes. Content will be refreshed and updated as the campaign progresses so we’d love to include as much as we can in order to reflect the huge efforts that schools, teachers and all connected with education put in all year round.
