Session Overview
Practical Strategies for Inclusive Classrooms: Six Moments That Matter
A practical session exploring six key moments in the school day where small adjustments make the biggest difference for neurodivergent learners. From arrivals to end of day, we look at what gets in the way of learning and what actually helps: softer landings, accessible instructions, support for getting started, surviving unstructured time, working with afternoon energy dips, and creating calm endings. These aren’t complicated strategies; they’re small, consistent changes to what you already do.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify the hidden cognitive demands in everyday classroom moments
- Understand why some students struggle with instructions, initiation, and transitions
- Apply practical strategies for each of the six moments
- Recognise how body doubling, structured choice, and predictable routines support neurodivergent learners
