Why demands feel impossible, and what helps at home
When your child can’t do what’s asked, the day can tip into meltdown over something that looks small from the outside. Rewards, consequences and rigid routines tend to make it worse rather than better, and it’s easy to feel like you’re getting it wrong.
This recorded session explains demand avoidance as anxiety rather than defiance and what changes when you adjust how you ask and how you respond. It’s practical throughout, with small things you can try the same day: taking the demand out of how you ask, protecting the first half hour after school, staying connected when everything feels hard and repairing afterwards when you lose your patience, because you will, and that’s allowed.
