Session Overview
Safe, Seen, Supported: Small Moments That Build Big Trust
When children feel safe, seen and supported, they are ready to learn. When they do not, no amount of teaching will reach them. This session is about the practical how: building trust quickly with children who are guarded or withdrawn, reading what behaviour is really telling you, weaving connection into the day you already have, and coming back well when things go wrong. None of it asks for more time, more staff, or more budget. With room to reflect and share ideas with colleagues, you leave with small, doable things you can use straight away.
Learning outcomes:
- See why safety comes first, and how small everyday moments build it
- Recognise what behaviour is communicating, and respond to the need underneath
- Build trust quickly, even with children who are guarded or withdrawn
- Create moments of connection that fit naturally into your day
- Repair and reconnect when things do not go to plan
