Session Overview
Staff Wellbeing as an Ecosystem: Building Connected, Supportive Schools
Staff wellbeing isn’t one thing you can fix with a single initiative. It’s an ecosystem of eight interconnected domains, and most schools are stronger in some areas than they realise and weaker in others than they’d like to admit. This session introduces the Human Kind framework and takes a deep dive into three domains that build on each other: Connection, Support, and Mastery. Through practical strategies, honest discussion, and time for action planning, leaders leave with a clearer picture of where their school is now and one concrete step they can take next.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand staff wellbeing as an ecosystem of eight interconnected domains
- Recognise the difference between functional connection (we work together) and authentic connection (we see each other as whole people)
- Move from reactive support (“my door is always open”) to proactive, structured approaches
- Identify what makes professional development energising versus depleting
- Leave with one specific, sustainable action for each of the three deep-dive domains
