Session Overview
From Primary to Secondary: Getting Transitions Right for Neurodivergent Pupils
Transition done well can set a neurodivergent pupil up for years of success. This session gives you the understanding and the practical tools to make that happen, from passing on what works, to building the relationships and routines that help pupils feel safe and ready to learn. We also look honestly at why some pupils appear to be coping when they aren’t, and at what you can do to spot the signs early and keep things on track.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of this session, participants will:
- Understand what neurodivergent pupils need to thrive during transition
- Know how to pass on the strategies that work, so support doesn’t start from scratch
- Reduce anxiety by building familiarity, routine, and trusted relationships
- Recognise and respond to signs of masking or struggling
