Session Overview
Safe Enough to Be Brave
Easing anxiety and building resilience in school
Children can be bold and brave when they feel safe enough to try. Anxiety doesn’t always look like worry: it can look like a child who can’t get through the classroom door, who can’t hand in work until it’s perfect, or whose distress spills over when the day gets too much. This session helps staff see school through their eyes, understand what’s driving their anxiety, and do something about it, from the everyday changes that help children feel safe enough to settle, to growing their confidence one small step at a time.
You’ll come away able to:
- Spot anxiety that doesn’t look like worry, and understand what’s driving it
- Make small changes that help children feel safe across the school day
- Make getting it wrong feel safe, so children feel able to have a go
- Break a big worry into small steps, knowing when to stretch and when to hold back
- Use what a child loves to draw them into learning
