These slides were developed for a webinar in February 2025.
Here’s the session overview:
From Self-Doubt to Self-Belief: Helping Autistic Girls Shine
Autistic girls often struggle to see themselves as capable learners, which can hold them back both academically and personally. In this session, we’ll explore how we, as educators, can break down the barriers that chip away at their confidence. Together, we’ll uncover practical ways to nurture an environment that helps autistic girls feel safe, valued, and able to succeed on their own terms. By focusing on small but meaningful changes, we will empower our students to build the self-belief and skills they need to flourish at school and beyond.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will:
- Identify barriers that impact autistic girls’ confidence and self-belief.
- Explore practical approaches to create a supportive, confidence-building environment.
- Understand the importance of relationships and how small changes can have a big impact on growth and self-advocacy.
- Develop strategies to equip autistic girls with the skills they need to thrive in the classroom and in life.
If you were there, I hope these are a helpful aide-memoire. If not, I hope they make enough sense without me to be useful. If you’d like to download them, you can do so via this page on Patreon.
