Session Overview
Neurodivergent Friendly Classrooms in College: Autism, ADHD and What Helps
This session makes sense of autism and ADHD in a college setting, what they look like day to day and the misconceptions worth setting aside, so the learner who masks, or melts down, or quietly disappears starts to make more sense. From there it works through small, low cost changes to the way you communicate, set tasks up and run your teaching space, the kind that help the learners who look fine on the surface as much as the ones who don’t.
What staff will take away
- Understand what autism and ADHD can look like in college
- Spot the quieter signs that a learner is struggling
- Make small changes to the way you communicate and set up tasks
- Adapt your teaching space so more learners can settle and engage
