These slides were developed for a junior school INSET in January 2025.
Here’s the session overview:
Ready to Learn: Practical Strategies for Emotional Regulation
This practical training session is designed to equip you with effective tools and strategies to support students’ emotional regulation. You’ll gain valuable insights into the emotional challenges your students face and learn how to respond in ways that help them feel calmer and more ready to learn. The session will explore both immediate techniques for calming and co-regulating with students, as well as longer-term strategies for proactive soothing, self-care, and fostering a positive, low-arousal classroom environment. You’ll leave with a practical toolbox of strategies to help create a more supportive, inclusive learning space.
If you were there, I hope these are a helpful aide-memoire. If not, I hope they make enough sense without me to be useful. If you’d like to download them, you can do so via this page on slideshare or via this page on Patreon.
